Practice Parent Program. Practice Parent Chairs: Sarrah and John Lauric
2010 Spring Season.

NOTES From Last Year From the Coach: Practice Parent requests…
- Leave shoe baskets in one stack in the morning as the rowers are launching. Remove the full basket as one boat is shoving off and the next boat is approaching the dock. This greatly reduces confusion for the rowers who are in a time crunch. Feel free to set out all the baskets for the rowers to pilfer through upon return to the dock.
- The belt that straps the launches to the ramp works best when it’s threaded properly. Loosen the strap to release the tension and give slack so that you can unhook the belt from the eyebolt below. Leaving the strap in one piece will make the lock down process easier at the end of practice. If you happen to separate the two portions of the belt, use the hour the rowers are on the water to figure out how to re-thread the belt properly. There is a picture engraved into the metal clamp that tells you how to do this.
- It is the adults (Coaches’/Parents’ GBC/Hickory) responsibility to turn off ALL the lights off at the boathouse. Some days we’re better at this than others. It really doesn’t matter who does it so long as it gets done before we leave the site.
- Remember to communicate with your PP partner who is going to remain until the last rower is picked up. If you find that the same rower is consistently picked up late, tell a coach or a board member and the matter will be addressed by them
- IMPORTANT NOTE. Calls to the Great Bridge Bridge are no longer required. Do not call the bridge to let them know how many boats we have in the water. We only need to monitor the marine radio and inform the coaches of any relevant information that is discussed over the radio.
- Please don't forget to put a paddle in each of the launches.
- Please don't forget to loosen the launch boats' gas tank lids so as to allow the gas to vent.
You guys and gals are doing a great job helping out in the morning. It is good to see your enthusiasm and support on a daily basis. Keep it up.
